Traveller - Chris Stapleton
- Label: Mercury Nashville Records
Traveller is the highly anticipated Mercury Records Nashville solo debut album from rising superstar Chris Stapleton. Already a world-renowned songwriter, Stapleton has enjoyed five #1 hits including the five-week No. 1 "Never Wanted Nothing More" recorded by Kenny Chesney, George Strait's "Love's Gonna Make it Alright" and Luke Bryan's "Drink A Beer." Recorded at Nashville's historic RCA Studio A (with additional production at The Castle and Blackbird Studio), Traveller was produced by Dave Cobb (Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell) and recorded by Vance Powell (Jack White). In addition to renditions of Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove's "Tennessee Whiskey" and Don Sampson's "Was It 26," the album features twelve original songs, including fan-favorite "Sometimes I Cry."
The 5, 6, 7, 8's - The 5, 6, 7, 8's
- Label: Third Man Records
Not only is this band big in Japan, they are from Japan! They are the 5, 6, 7, 8's, "three beautateous, leopard skin clad Set Kittens wilding enough HHHHOTTT, sultry steaminess to melt butter with just a look" - Russell O'Day. How's that for liner notes? Find more liner notes from O'Day on the back of this jacket and ever better music from the 5, 6, 7, 8's, songs like, "Harlem Nocturne", "Oriental Rock", "One Potato", "Scream", and "Handsome Man", to name a few. Ya gotta love what the Third Man Records label has done with the resurgence of vinyl. Of course, they are just part of the equation. You the record buyer are the biggest part! Find this, of course, in our New Vinyl rack at our new location (as of March 2014) on 9 S. Spring St.
Pinkerton - Weezer
- Label: Geffen Records
The second release from Weezer and originally released in 1996. A cool little factoid says that Rivers Coumo wrote most of the songs between semesters while still at Harvard University. Produced by Weezer themselves (another cool Fun Fact is that The Cars Ric Ocasek produced their first record) this record includes El Scorcho, The Good Life, Pink Triangle, Falling For You, Getchoo, and others. "Pinkerton" didn't quite meet sales expectations the band or label had but was a critical success and has often been named as one of the best albums of the 1990s and even one of the best of all time.
When the Pawn . . . - Fiona Apple
- Label: Sony Legacy Records
The amazing and iconic second release from Fiona Apple, "When the Pawn . . . " The elipse points indicate that the original title was a 90-word something poem album title. Originally released in 1999, this record includes Paper Bag, Fast As You Can, I Know, and others. Widely considered an all-time classic.
Memoir of a Sparklemuffin - Suki Waterhouse
- Label: Sub Pop Records
A great summary of Suki and this record via a bio from our distro, "Suki Waterhouse's music sounds like a collage of her inspirations, experiences, and emotions stitched together by honeyed vocal delivery, bright-eyed melodies, and evocative storytelling. It doubles as a mirror image of her life as a consummate creative, artist, actress, model, and mother, yet it also breaks the glass to unveil raw truth. She leans on an ever-evolving sonic palette to convey what she's feeling-whether it be folky Americana, nineties alternative, turn-of-the-century indie, or handcrafted otherworldly pop."
Divine Feminine - Mac Miller

Mac Miller's 2016 release . . . The Devine Femenine is an album about women and for women. No Name - Jack White
- Label: Third Man
"No Name", not to be confused with the "No Name Defense" of the early 1970's Miami Dolphins. Excellent solo album that harkens back to his days with the White Stripes. It took us a minute to finally get it in stock, but one awaits you now! Come grab it or order now from this website!
Short n Sweet - Sabrina Carpenter
- Label: Island Records
Short n’ Sweet showcases the scintillating spirit of Sabrina Carpenter, the pocket-sized popstar with a larger than life artistic presence. One gold album & multiple platinum singles later, it’s no wonder that “Espresso,” the debut single from the album, has it all: lyrics that make you giggle and blush and songwriting that makes you wish you’d thought of it first.
Twin Plagues - Wednesday
- Label: Dead Oceans Records
2021 release from one of the bigger buzz bands of 2023. You may have heard of "Rat Saw God" but check out this earlier release where it might be a little more shoegaze than Americana. Includes the title track, Handsome Man, Cliff, One More Last One, and others.
Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
- Label: Warner Brothers (reissue)
A reissue of one of the biggest selling records of all time. Sure you may be able to find this for less than $15 at a record store or thrift store (sometimes even at this record store!) but why not get a brand new sealed reissue/remaster of this stone cold classic? Includes a slew of hits and songs you know so well. Find this in our "New Vinyl/Reissue" section of the shop.
Tim - The Replacements
- Label: Sire
Where do we start? The Replacements major label debut is one of Rediscover Records favorite bands of all time. Forget all that 80's music pap, playlists, and retro stations, this is the where the s*** hits the fans (to borrow a previous releases title). Stocked with great songs like "Bastards of Young", "Waitress In the Sky", "Kiss Me on the Bus", "Here Comes A Regular", ah heck, just list the whole record. It makes many people's "Desert Island Disc". Buy it. What once was unthinkable is now a reality! The Paul and Tommy have reformed as the Replacements and are performing at Riot Fest in the fall of 2013! Catch 'em live in Chicago, Denver, or Toronto! EDIT (6/18/2019): What a time to be alive. When the Replacements reconvened even for just that brief time.
Jubilee - Japanese Breakfast
- Label: Dead Oceans
Outstanding 2021 release from acclaimed author and artist, Michelle Zauner/Japanese Breakfast. Includes Paprika, Be Sweet, Sit, Tactics, and others. With the world opening up again in 2021, look for her on tour. According to a piece we read in Vox, she's looking forward to to touring and being around people again. Aren't we all.
Punisher - Phoebe Bridgers
- Label: Dead Oceans
Much-heralded 2020 release from Phoebe Bridgers. We were fans even before she was on SNL (yeah, we'll be "that guy") and "Punisher" was on our year-end Top 10 list. Musicians on this record include Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, and Jim Keltner. I bet you didn't expect to see that name on this list. Yup. Includes Kyoto, Garden Song, I Know the End, and others.
Hunky Dory - David Bowie
- Label: Parlophone Records
Reissue of the David Bowie classic "Hunky Dory". Arguably one of his finest works and the first with Tony Visconti as producer. Includes "Kooks", "Changes", "Life On Mars", "Oh! You Pretty Things" and, well, you know what else is on here. Replace that CD with a sparkling new vinyl reissue. They sound great!
Autumn Variations - Ed Sheeran
- Label: Atlantic Records
Says Ed hizzelf, "Last autumn, I found that my friends and I were going through so many life changes. After the heat of the summer, everything either calmed, settled, fell apart, came to a head or imploded," says Ed Sheeran. "My dad and brother told me about a composer called Elgar, who composed 'Enigma Variations', where each of the 14 compositions were about a different one of his friends. This is what inspired me to make this album."
Greatest Hits - Queen
- Label: Hollywood Records
One of the more popular greatest hits albums of all time, Queen. Originally released in 1981 it included their new single at the time, Under Pressure, with David Bowie. Now, a two album set, relive your own memories of Queen with the record or relive some of the best moments of the film, "Bohemian Rhapsody". Includes Killer Queen, Another One Bites the Dust, We Are the Champions, We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody, Bicycle Race, and others. This is one for the ages and it will look great on your IKEA record shelves or in that rad crate of records you keep near your turntable.

Like A Puppet Show - Sandro, Malkovich, Alexandrakis
- Label: Cryogenia
Surreal if not completely bizarre release by Sandro Miller, John Malkovich, and Eric Alexandrakis. Sandro is an Elgin native and an Elgin High Graduate. He stopped by to sign a few copies of these records (see above photo) so we could have them in the shop. Spoken word performances by Malkovich with music accompianment by the likes of Sean and Yoke Lennon, OMD, Cranberries Delores O'Riordan, Ric Ocasek, and others. You really have to hear it to believe it. Sandro was involved with most of the photos. Follow him in instagram at sandro_film.
Avett Brothers - Avett Brothers
- Label: Ramseur Records
The Avett Brothers return with their first album in five years. Produced by longtime collaborator, friend and early champion Rick Rubin, The Avett Brothers is as much untitled as it is self-titled, for as Thomas Keating said: "Silence is God's first language - everything else is a poor translation. Repeat! Produced by Rick Rubin! Read his recent book if you can.
Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
- Label: Parlophone 2012 Reissue
This is the relatively recent Giles Martin remaster released in 2017 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the release of Sgt Pepper in 1967. They've really done a great job on these remasters if you have not heard them. Giles Martin, son of legendary Beatles producer George Martin, took on this project and came out with excellent results. All the songs you know and love and it includes the original insert with the cardboard badges and mustaches. Hype Sticker Alert!! "As You Have Never Heard It Before!" 2022 EDIT: Some prices on New Vinyl/Reissues have kinda gone up. This is the MSRP on this record, not a price we pulled out of our wazoo. To quote Blues Brothers Jake, "It's not my fault!!!!"
Little Rope - Sleater Kinney
- Label: Loma Vista Records
Sleater-Kinney returns with Little Rope, one of the finest, most delicately layered records in the band's 30-year career. On the surface, Little Rope's ten songs veer from spare to anthemic, catchy to deliberately hard-turning. But beneath that are perhaps the most complex and subtle arrangements of any Sleater-Kinney record, and a lyrical and emotional compass pointed firmly in the direction of something both liberating and terrifying: the sense that only way to gain control is to let it go.
Only God Was Above Us - Vampire Weekend
- Label: Columbia Records
2024 release from the always solid Vampire Weekend. Gatefold release and includes a poster. Album was "inspired by haunted by 20th Century New York City". Album title comes from the photo on the album cover by Steven Siegel, and other photos from his "Subway Dream" series documenting a Jersey City junkyard in the late-'80s. Currently we have the indie record store album art, but with this "Inventory Subject to Change", as it goes.
Lookout Low - Twin Peaks
- Label: Grand Jury Records
Add this record to the list of great 2019 releases. If you're in the camp of "music just isn't the same anymore as it was back in the day", we say, one; congratulations you've become your parents, and two; turn over a few more stones and you'll find all kinds of great music in multiple genres. Get your lo-fi garage rock on with the Chicago combo, Twin Peaks! Included on this record is Dance Through It, Ferry Song, Under A Smile, Oh Mama, and others. And Nothing Hurt - Spiritualized

From the opening lullaby of “A Perfect Miracle” through to the Morse Code fadeout at the close of “Sail on Through,” Spiritualized wrap layer upon layer of gloriously transcendent sound together to create a mesmerizing and cinematic collection of songs. Song titles are listed on the back jacket in Morse Code too.
Blue - Jesus Lizard
- Label: Capital Records

Zooropa - U2
- Label: Island Records
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of U2's Zooropa, this limited edition transparent yellow vinyl pressing of the Grammy-award winning album coincides with the band's performances at the Sphere in Las Vegas. Initially intended to be just an EP, Zooropa became a 10-track album recorded in 6 weeks in 1993, making it the fastest U2 album ever produced. Produced by Flood, Brian Eno and The Edge, the album went to #1 in the UK, US and more. It features the singles "Numb," "Lemon" & "Stay (Faraway, So Close!)." A bit of a stiff price, but this is the suggested retail price, not some egregious mark-up or misprint. In some cases, this appears to be the vinyl world we live in. Thanks for understanding.
No Ordinary Crown - Will Johnson
- Label: Keeled Scales
2023 solo release by Centro-Matic's Will Johnson. Great capsule write-up via our distro, The songs were conceived in stolen moments and brief windows of time between the responsibilities of family and a multi-hyphenate career. The singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, painter and novelist describes the demo process as "fairly jagged," a gathering and stitching of audio snippets recorded via cell phone and dictaphone over a year and half. "I finalized the songs on short tours where I could hear my thoughts a bit more clearly," he says. "Somewhere along the line someone advised me to never be afraid to hurt my characters, that I will always be able to get them out of it," he says. "I do want there to be these small victories and small portals of hope." With No Ordinary Crown, people may behave badly, and the road may get rough, but the reward is in the journey.
Drag On Girard - Purling Hiss
- Label: Drag City Records
A great rock record from Purling Hiss. What else is new? Released on Chicago's incomparable Drag City Record label this 2023 release includes Yer In All My Dreams, Baby, Out the Door, Stay With Us, the title track, and others. Look for it on some year-end Best Of lists, or at least ours. Heh.
Lucky For You - Bully
- Label: Sub Pop Records
Another 2023 release featured here at Rediscover Records. The incomparable Bully! This LP released on the SubPop record label contains All I Do, A Wonderful Life, Ms America, Change Your Mind, and other tracks. We try to get as many new releases as we can, here is a good example.
Mainstream Sellout - Machine Gun Kelly
- Label: Interscope Records
Mainstream Sellout, executive produced by Travis Barker, is Machine Gun Kelly's sixth studio album, which includes multiple hit singles and landed him on the cover of Billboard. The album boasts features from Gunna, Young Thug, blackbear, WILLOW ("Emo Girl"), Lil Wayne ("Ay!"), and Bring Me the Horizon ("Maybe"). It landed at #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, becoming his second straight chart-topper and the first rock album to hit #1 since 2020. Noice!!
