Ctrl - SZA
- Label: TDE / RCA
That voice. If you've heard it, you already know. If you have not, do a little research or have a little fun and pick up this hip hop record sight unseen, or unheard. One of the better hip hop releases of 2017 this record includes Supermodel, Prom, The Weekend, Love Galore (feat. Travis Scott), Normal Girl, Pretty Little Birds (ft. Isiah Rashad), Doves In the Wind (ft Kendrick Lamar) and others. This set was released on two translucent green records. Looking at the cover art, now you know where all those 90s and 2000s computer monitors went to . . .
London Calling - The Clash
- Label: Epic
This is the recent reissue of "London Calling" on Epic Records. Talk about an appropriate record label for such an Epic Record, London Calling. It's consistantly ranked as one of the great records of all time frequently topping polls and best of lists. It's brilliance cannot be under estimated as it combines rock, ska, rockabilly, raggae, and many other styles for forge this wonderful two LP set. The cover, of course, is an homage to Elvis Presley's first record. Includes Brand New Cadillac, The Right Profile, Clampdown, Death Or Glory, and the great hidden track Train In Vain. It's wonderful.
"Now every cheap hood strikes a bargain with the world"
Punisher - Phoebe Bridgers
- Label: Dead Oceans
Much-heralded 2020 release from Phoebe Bridgers. We were fans even before she was on SNL (yeah, we'll be "that guy") and "Punisher" was on our year-end Top 10 list. Musicians on this record include Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, and Jim Keltner. I bet you didn't expect to see that name on this list. Yup. Includes Kyoto, Garden Song, I Know the End, and others.
Bambi - Hippo Campus
- Label: Fat Possum Records
2018 release from the St Paul-Minneapolis combo, Hippo Campus! Includes Mistakes, Anxious, Doubt, Bambi, Golden, and others. This record probably includes as many one-word song titles as Pearl Jam "Ten". Probably. NPR named them their favorite new artist of 2017.
Wasted Years - Off!
- Label: Vice Records
This record is getting quite the buzz in the punk music circles. This is the 2014 release by the band Off! (They also had a Record Store 7" single release) which includes "Void You Out", "Legion of Evil", "Mr Useless", "All I Can Grab" and "No Easy Escape". Here is what the press is saying! Press! "Faster, harder, fiercer, and scarier." -Rolling Stone. Also, from the sticker on the record, "The most direct and in-your-face embodiment of Off!'s mission yet. If you have any questions about the state of punk in 2014, this is your answer."
Happier Than Ever - Billie Eilish
- Label: Interscope Records
The much-anticipated second full-length album from singer Billie Eilish. Released in late July 2021 this LP includes the title track, as well as, My Future, Therefor I Am, Your Power, Lost Cause, and others. With its sparse and subdued electro-pop arrangements it was met with praise by critics as well as fans. HTE was produced by her brother Finneas O'Connell.
Let It Come Down - Spiritualized
- Label: Fat Possum Records
Rad reissue of "Let It All Come Down", the 2001 record, by Spritualized. This is pressed to two-180 gram slabs of vinyl sweetness. Includes On Fire, Do It All Over Again, The Twelve Steps, and others. All songs written and arranged by J. Spaceman (Jason Pierce). Recorded at Air Studios and Abbey Road Studios. A very long list of artists contribute on this LP. Check the back of the album liner notes for the names! Liner notes are cool.
Wild Onion - Twin Peaks
- Label: Grand Jury Records
We're excited to be carrying Twin Peaks "Wild Onion"! Released in 2014 on the Grand Jury label, there is no shortage of praise for this rock combo, as you can see in just a couple of the quotes here. Included in this LP is "I Found A New Way", "Mirror of Time", "Sloop Jay D", "Stranger World", "Flavor", "Hold On" and others. Look at the album art font, looks like a wonderful homage to the Beach Boys "Wild Honey". In any event, pick this up today! Includes an MP3 download of the entire record so you can take it on the go.
Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Unknown Mortal Orchestra
- Label: Fat Possum Records
Acclaimed self-title release from Unknown Mortal Orchestra released on the always cool Fat Possum Record label. Find the cool stuff at Rediscover Records!
Freewheelin' - Bob Dylan
- Label: We Are Vinyl Re-ish
One of the great "pre-electric Bob" records that he released. Heck, it's one of best Bob Dylan records ever, if not one of the better records of all time. It's stellar. We listen to this record and forget that was released in 1963 and most of the songs do not sound dated at all, especially "Masters Of War" and "Don't Think Twice". This photo of Dylan with then girlfriend Suze Rotolo is one of the more iconic photos and album covers of all time. We know you have this on CD, perhaps an old record, isn't it time you got a reissue? We think so.
Nebraska - Bruce Springsteen
- Label: Columbia
Pray for the Wicked - Panic at the Disco
- Label: Fueled by Ramen
Those fancy rock stars Panic! at the Disco returned in 2018 with their 6th release Pray for the Wicked, an 11-song record that may have culled some influences from singer Brandon Urie's stint on Broadway in Kinky Boots. Includes the singles Say Amen (Saturday Night), Hey Look Ma, I Made It, and High Hopes. Upon its release, this record did debut at Number One on the Billboard Top 200 charts with 180,000 "album equivalent units", which of those was 151,000 pure album sales. Speaking of just vinyl sales, this was the 10th best selling vinyl album seller in the US with 59,000 copies. Impressive, for the niche market vinyl is, even with its resurgence in recent years.
Greatest Hits - N.W.A.
- Label: Priority Records/Capital
"The World's Most Dangerous Group". One of the most influential hip hop combos of all time! This set includes Gangsta Gansta, If It Ain't Ruff, Hello, Fuck Tha Police, Cash Money, and others. Extensive liner notes by Cheo Hodari Coker. From the liner notes is this quote from Jonathan Gold of LA Weekly, "Hard rap, like punk, brought together a self-selected community of kids by becoming an image of what their parents feared most." N.W.A. is Ice Cube, MC Ren, Eazy E, Yella, and Dr. Dre. A two record set.
Wish - The Cure
- Label: Elektra Records
Reissue of "Wish" to honour its 30th anniversary. How is that even possible? Isn't "Wish" one of their *newer* records??? Includes the big alternahit single "Friday I'm In Love", one of he first hits of the alternative genre once it became a marketing tool and a mainstream radio format. Fun Fact: When Chicago's alt-rocker Q101 changed their format from adult contemporary format (Michael Bolton, Celine, Mariah, Amy Grant, etc., yes those kind of artists) "Friday I'm In Love" was the first song to signal the change in formats.
Pet Sounds - Beach Boys
- Label: Capital Records Reissue
Released in 1966 this release has influenced artists for decades. Inspired by the US release of "Rubber Soul", it's Brian Wilson's opus. It's become an adjective to describe other records and sounds. How many records can say that? "Oh it has this 'Pet Sounds' feel to it". What a record. Incredible. Isn't time you had this on vinyl? "Buy Now" via the site or find this in our New Vinyl/Reissue racks when shopping at the shop.
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - Wilco
- Label: Nonesuch
This is the 20th anniversary reissue from September 2022. You know the story, we don't need to rehash it here, however, do you have YHF on vinyl? Then you need to have it on this 180g 2 record set. Wilco's pop masterpiece from 2003. Includes "I'm the Man Who Loves You", "Poor Places", "Reservations", "Heavy Metal Drummer", and a killer opening track to rival all opening tracks, "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart". On a more local front, the architect who designed Marina Towers in Chicago (shown on the cover) was also the architect of buildings at the Elgin Mental Health Center in Elgin. Elgin, of coarse, is home of Rediscover Records.

Boys & Girls In America - Hold Steady
- Label: Vagrant Records
"Boys & Girls In America". The title, taken from Jack Kerouac's "The Road" spins similar tales of people on the move and in & out of love. If you look up lists for the best records of the 00's, this record is frequently on these lists. Includes "Chips Ahoy", "Stuck Between Stations", and "Chillout Tent", which includes vocals from Dave Pirner. A force live, this band has a very rabid fan base which is an event in itself.
